Report: Impact Investment Instruments
Paul Ramsay Foundation has released a report entitled ‘Assessing the appropriateness of impact investment instruments for delivering impact within the Australian market’.
For anyone with some familiarity with different funding instruments, this makes for a fascinating read as they do a deep dive into various options, from the usual (grants, debt and equity) to the unusual (quasi-equity, blended finance and impact-linked instruments).
The tables and graphs in this 42-page document are also really useful for anyone wanting to understand the full range of impact investing tools. From SAFE notes to recoverable loans to revenue participation agreements, there is a lot to consider - and social enterprises could use some of these in innovative ways to fund their projects and organisations to bring about greater social and environmental benefits.
