This week’s SECNA member presenter: Anastasia Dounas - Success Works Partners
Challenge: Our social enterprise is facing difficulties in acquiring new clients and establishing a sustainable business model. While our existing government contract is profitable, we are struggling to expand our client base and develop a profitable model. We currently offer workshops and mentoring for women with criminal records to help them find employment. We aim to charge employers a recruiter fee for hiring these women due to the high level of support they receive from our program.

SECNA Annual General Meeting
SECNA invites Members to join us for our Annual General Meeting. Register via Humanitix.
SECNA's AGM is how members most actively influence the way SECNA is managed.
At the AGM, members can hear our board talk through the activities of SECNA for the past year, and recognise and celebrate the achievements of our volunteer base and community.
Importantly, the AGM sets broad direction and it is when industry members elect the directors who will represent the members in the ongoing governance of SECNA.
At the meeting, members will have the opportunity to:
find out about SECNA’s operations and finances
ask questions about any items on the agenda
vote on resolutions and director elections
Business will include the election of 4 new directors.
All industry (social enterprise) members are eligible to vote and it is important that every industry member votes. Associate members and guests are welcome to attend and ask questions, but are not eligible to vote.
For more information about the AGM and to nominate yourself as a director, see SECNA AGM 2024
An insight into social franchising
SECNA Members are invited to join Jennifer Briscoe-Hough, CEO Tender Funerals Australia, for an informal session on social franchising.

Examples from Tender Funeral's experience
Q&A
Please note: as this is an informal session, there will be no formal presentation and due to the complexities, legal questions/topics will be out of scope for the discussion.

This week’s SECNA member presenter: Circle Paints
Challenge: Our challenge is how to scale up to a volume of sales where we can afford to pay a shop manager. This week’s SECNA member presenter: Nook Studios
Challenge: Nook Studios is a social enterprise of open government advocates, researchers, designers, storytellers, and creative civic technologists. We run workshops, events, and make useful content and information products that simply explain, visualise, and connect complex laws, data and processes. Our goals are to help organisations be open, communicate effectively, and enable communities to participate in decisions that impact them. We are well known overseas, have great projects and products that people and governments want, but we are finding it difficult to find local funders and project partners.
We are keen to know if people are interested in learning about open government. We work on mining, oil and gas, energy transition so keen to find funders who care about that. Any ideas for funders/project partners interested in making procurement processes easier to navigate and contracting data more accessible? In particular we are keen to find funding to continue our work supporting resource recovery social enterprises. We have tax deductible donation status via the Australian Cultural Fund. We are also keen to hear about funders who provide core funding.
