  • No.

Social Traders and SECNA are separate organisations with separate processes. The Social Enterprise Council of NSW & ACT (SECNA) is a member-led peak body that represents the interests of social entrepreneurs and social enterprises across New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory.

Social Traders is the national social enterprise certifier in Australia. Their certification gives businesses and governments the assurance that a social enterprise has been independently verified, which increases their confidence in procuring from those organisations.

SECNA Industry members are entitled to complementary Social Traders certification and recognition membership for the first year after certifying for the first time.

However, SECNA can't guarantee that SECNA Industry Members will be successful in obtaining the certification as this process is managed solely by Social Traders.

  • To start the certification process, follow the steps on Social Traders website

For questions relating to the certification process, please contact the Social Traders team and inform them that you are a SECNA Industry Member.

To learn more about the certification process, you can join a monthly certification information session hosted by Social Traders. Find out more here

  • Getting certified is the best way to call yourself a social enterprise. As a certified social enterprise, you give stakeholders assurance that you're creating genuine impact through trade.

When you become a SECNA Industry Member, you benefit from complementary access to Social Traders certification and Recognition Membership for the first year after certifying for the first time.

Social Traders Recognition Membership is valued at $500 per year + GST.
